Playback is broken up and laggy when I run Doggiebox on Mac OS 10.5 (Leopard). What's going on?
This is a known issue under Leopard with Doggiebox versions 1.3.1 and earlier. Version 1.4, recently released, fixes the problem. Download it and enjoy!
I haven't seen an update since 2006. Is Doggiebox still in development?
Yes, Doggiebox is still alive! Various personal and professional reasons have contributed to a lull in development over the past year and a half, but Doggiebox has not been abandoned; in fact, version 1.4 was recently released.
Does Doggiebox have support for importing/exporting MIDI files?
Yes, as of version 1.2 (September 2004), Doggiebox can export to standard MIDI files, or play back in real time to other MIDI devices; in fact, it can even tell them to start and stop playing or recording, via MMC.
Are more drum kits available somewhere?
Yep, check out the online file library!
Some drum kits do not emit any sound, although they appear to open correctly. What's going on?
As of version 1.2, Doggiebox supports a bundle-based drum kit format which earlier versions cannot properly use. If there are old versions of Doggiebox on your system, the .dbkit may appear as a folder containing a sub-folder called "sounds". In such a case the kit will not appear to work properly.
Fixing this is easy. First, ensure that you are using the most recent version of Doggiebox. Delete any versions 1.0 or 1.1 that may exist on your hard drive, then log out and log back in. You should then find the drum kit works.
Is Doggiebox available for Mac OS 9? What about Windows?
No, Doggiebox is currently available for Mac OS X only. Doggiebox is built to make extensive use of OS X technologies such as AppKit and CoreAudio which are not available on other platforms. For this reason, as well as lack of market demand, a Mac OS 9 (Classic) version will not be developed. If you know a developer who might be interested in developing a Windows version, please have them contact us. In the mean time, feel proud to be using a unique Mac OS X-only product.
Can I get a site licence for my school lab, workplace, etc.?
Absolutely; please contact us to discuss the specifics of your situation and to arrange a discounted price.
Doggiebox seems to forget my registration key every time I launch it; what's wrong?
This is a recently-discovered bug affecting Doggiebox versions 1.3 and earlier, and only manifests when when trying to register Doggiebox while running under an un-privileged user account. To solve the problem, log in to your Mac as a user with Admin privileges. Then, activate your Doggiebox registration via the usual process. You may now resume using Doggiebox under any user account and the registration should work.
Doggiebox is failing to launch or is quitting unexpectedly; what gives?
If you are experiencing crashes under reproducible circumstances, please e-mail us with a synopsis of what's going on, along with the crash log (which you can usually find in Library/Logs/CrashReporter/Doggiebox.crash.log under your home folder).
How can I get an answer to my un-answered question?
Just e-mail us and we'll be glad to answer as best we can!
